Have you seen the Play ?

We had great fun looking at Georgian Entertainment at the Georgian Theatre in Richmond, and I had a great bunch of students. However, all good things come to an end. I have now to put my thinking cap on and plan what I am doing next.

This autumn I am teaching a course in the new study centre attached to the Georgian Theatre in Richmond

the dates are Thursday mornings 10 a.m. – 12 noon on

6, 13 & 20 October, 3 , 10 & 17 November 2016

Entertainment in the Georgian Period (Have you seen the Play?)

Starting with documents in the theatre archives, we will look at all kinds of entertainment enjoyed in the period roughly covering the heyday of the Georgian Theatre, 1780s – 1830s. We will look at what was put on at the Theatre, who went to see it, but also widen the theme to explore other popular entertainments , music, dancing, racing, gambling and the social context of the time.

Booking is through the Georgian Theatre.
